Baby Turtle Rescue

This past Sunday, I joined Robert Schonfeld, South Palm Beach’s Turtle Man, on his morning walk on the beach.

Every Sunday morning during August, he takes groups to find and rescue baby turtles who did not make it out of the nest.

But where?

I’ve considered a train trip west. Too long and too smelly. Can I send the car ahead? Should I try out a downtown Portland apartment? That could be fun, but I think I want some mountains, lake, beach. something out of the city and into nature. I wonder if Mike would have any ideas?

I am hungry for something and I don’t know what. Any ideas?

Barbara Cook and Ocean Ridge Natural Area

For a Coastal Star article, I had the pleasure of interviewing Barbara Cook, a master gardener who lives in Ocean Ridge. She was wonderful, I realized, and I took her up on her invitation to visit her beautiful garden. Not only was that refreshing and a wonderful weekend respite, but I was blessed with a second gift that day. Barbara lives next to the Ocean Ridge Natural Area, a spot most people visit by boat or by bicycle.

Here are some photos of Barbara’s beautiful hammock garden, and a couple shots of the neighboring nature reserve.
